According to information provided by the DCI department, the woman and the other four suspects were nabbed in a hotel room in Kakamega County yesterday in the evening, after months of investigations and tracing.

The four are accused of using a well-orchestrated scheme to defraud farmers from both Kakamega and Trans Nzoia counties.

According to Kwanza Subcounty police boss, Mr. George Otieno, the four, Paul Karanja 62, Timothy Shiundu 36, Enock Zakayo 62, Boniface Mucheni 63, and Mary Wanjala 43, have an organized gang that steals from members of the public and will be charged with conspiracy to defraud in contrast to Section 317 of the penal code.

“We have traced the five fraudsters for months, and we are glad that we caught them hiding in a hotel room in Kakamega County. The five, four men and a lady, will be charged with conspiracy to defraud innocent Kenyans,” George Otieno told news reporters, as quoted by NTV Kenya.
