Kenyan Climber Cheruiyot Kirui Missing in Mt Everest

Kenyan climber Cheruiyot Kirui reported missing above 8,000 meters on Mount Everest since the morning of Wednesday, May 22, 2024.

On Mt Everest, a Kenyan climber and his Sherpa guide went out of contact from above 8,000m since this morning.

According to Mingma Sherpa, Chairman at Seven Summit Treks, Cheruiyot Kirui who attempted scale Everest without using supplemental oxygen remained out of contact from the Bishop Rock, a few metres below the summit point.

‘Kirui, a banker working with KCB, and his Sherpa guide Nawang were last contacted at the Bishop Rock,’ Sherpa said.
