GOVT LEGALIZE SELLING OF DONKEY MEAT.

Kenyan cabinet secretary, Mithika Linturi have hinted at removing ban on the sale of donkey meat. The agriculture, livestock and fisheries CS stated that donkeys were livestock and that he would act in their welfare and the welfare of their owners, adding that if donkey slaughter is permitted, the government will take measures to ensure that it is done in accordance with specific guidelines.

“If lifting the ban will ensure that young people go back to work then I will make sure that everything that is possible is done so that they can get employment.” He stated.

The CS added: “I am very happy to hear that because if people can take the meat, then why don’t we give them the meat and even export so that we can have foreign currency from donkey meant”.

His remarks came after complaints by Baringo residents including Mogotio MP Ruben Kiborek who lamented that since the ban on donkey slaughter was effected, many lost their jobs. Here is the full post.
