WHY RUTO DIDN’T INCLUDE GACHAGUA IN HIS MEETING WITH RAILA

President William Ruto and Opposition leader Raila Odinga Sunday agreed to embrace dialogue to address a number of issues raised by Raila Odinga.

President William Ruto who had said that he was ready to engage any leader in the country within the provisions of the law said asked Odinga to call off his weekly protests and embrace dialogue.

Odinga responded to the calls of the President and agreed to call off demonstrations as he promised to give dialogue a chance.

The truce between Ruto and Raila was struck amid hardline stands by a number of Kenya Kwanza leaders who maintained that they will not have a dialogue with the former Premier.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is one of the hardliners in the Ruto’s camp who was not included in the meeting that is said to have given birth to the truce, if the photos of the said meeting doing rounds in the social media is anything to go by.

This has risen questions from a number of Kenyans who now opine that as the second in command, Rigathi Gachagua should have been included as the truce was being struck.

However, responding to this renowned political analyst and governance expert Herman Manyora alleges that it was not strategic to make Gachagua part of the deal.

Manyora says that Rigathi Gachagua could have stopped President William Ruto from accepting to have dialogue with Raila Odinga.

“In such situations you do not include your deputy because he will stop you. He will summon people quickly. That is when will hear a meeting bringing together all MPs from Mount Kenya is called in Sagan Hotel or anywhere else.”

“Until your deal with Raila is cemented, do not include these people because you still need them. Let them just hear it has happened then they will deal with it.” Manyora said.
