RAILA ODINGA DOES THIS IN LODWAR

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga has reiterated his call for unity and peace in the countdown to the August polls.

Speaking at a rally in Lowdwar, Turkana county on Sunday, Odinga emphasized the need for a united country, noting that plans to revamp the economic state of the country will not be feasible under a divided nation.

He narrowed down his unity call to the Rift Valley region, saying should he clinch the presidency, he would ensure that all weapons in the hands of civilians, which he terms as the main cause of violence in the region, would be recovered.

He furthered on to promise residents in Turkana that he would fight corruption under his administration, terming it as the single greatest enemy to the country’s development.

“Mambo ya ufisadi tutapigana nayo ili watu wetu waweze kuendelea na maisha yao,” he stated.

He similarly reassured Turkana residents that he would roll out his agenda with focus on the health and education sectors as well as dealing with unemployment as the means to eradicate poverty.

Ili tupigane na mambo ya ugonjwa,” he said.

“Watoto wetu wote, hata wale ambao wazazi wao hawana pesa watapata fursa sawa ya kielimu kuanzia nursery, tertiary, secondary hadi chuo kikuu alafu watapata ajira.”

Odinga was flanked by leaders affiliated to the Azimio la Umoja movement, among them NARC-Kenya leader Martha Karua, Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper) , Kakamega Governor Wyclif Oparanya, Narok Senator Ledama Olekina, Suna East MP Junet Mohammed, Homa Bay women rep Millicent Omanga alongside others.
