LIST OF GOVERNORS WHO HAVE DUMPED RAILA, JOINS RUTO’S CAMP

Governors Supporting Raila Changes Tune And Invites DP Ruto For Talks Amid Plan To Join UDA.

On Thursday, Governor Muthomi Njuki announced that he was ready to Join Deputy President William Ruto’s camp ahead of the 2022 polls.

Speaking during a state of the countu adress in Kathwana, Mr Njuki who had earlier declared he will support ODM leader Raila Odinga ahead of the Presidential polls, hinted at supporting the DP. He said he was listening to what voters in his county wanted.

“I am done with scrutinizing the Presidential aspirants and made up my minds. Our leaders have taken marriage vows before the bride price negotiations. This is very dangerous in political marriages,” he said.

His sentiments comes after Meru governor Kiraitu Murungi appears to have changed his mind about supporting ODM leader Raila Odinga after a declaration that the decision on which presidential candidate the region will support will be made by delegates of his newly launched political party.

Murungi said his Devolution Empowerment Party (DEP), whose symbol is a bus and colours are green and yellow, will rely on MCAs to settle on the candidate who they will find most popular in Mt Kenya East.

The governor who spoke on Monday when he unveiled DEP’s grassroots leaders from Meru, Tharaka Nithi and Isiolo counties, said they will announce their position after residents have settled on their preferred candidate between Raila and Deputy President William Ruto, of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
