JIMI WANJIGI MAKES A NEW POLITICAL MOVE

Safina Party presidential flagbearer Jimi Wanjigi has urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to take a cue from his predecessors and retire peacefully when his tenure comes to an end in August.

Wanjigi said Kenyans elected Uhuru twice in good faith and it is unfortunate that the President is attempting to cling on power.

“Uhuru should go home. His time is up. He should not try to take advantage of the situation to rule through the back door, ” he said.

The Safina leader made the remarks while on a charm offensive in Malindi to popularise his presidential bid and meet aspirants running for various positions on his party.

His tour of Malindi comes on the heels of similar ones in Kirinyaga, Murang’a and Meru.

Wanjigi stated that it was time for “Itwika” (generational change) in Kenya and reiterated that is the best person to lead that change.

“We should not be cheated. Uhuru and Raila do not have a solution to the challenges afflicting the people of Kenya and if anything they are the causes of our problems. They should go home together.”

He faulted Raila for abandoning the people of Kenya in the hour of need to go and work with the same system that has destroyed the economy and people’s lives and livelihoods.

Wanjigi observed that Uhuru’s positioning as the head of the Azimio Party is a clear indication the outgoing Head of State is on a mission to turn Kenya into a communist nation.

“The president is fighting to continue running the country through the back door. Kenyans should not allow that,” Wanjigi said.

Wanjigi moved from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) in February this year to join Safina after he was violently blocked from challenging former Prime Minister Raila Odinga for the party’s presidential ticket.

In Malindi where he was welcomed by enthusiastic crowds, Wanjigi congratulated Safina gubernatorial and Ward candidates In the region noting that Safina has hundreds of aspirants spread across the country who will be on the ballot.

He stated that he was determined to stay the course up to the ballot as a presidential candidate and he would not step down in favour of anyone while maintaining that he could only form coalitions and alliances with the people of Kenya directly.
