Homa bay county governor hon Gladys Wanga with hon Raila Amollo Odinga.

It was also established that over three hundred and twenty two people lack the necessary qualifications to hold the offices they are hold in the county.

A good number of workers have no file in the county registry, a clear indication that they did not present any document during recruitment.

Some of them are accused of faking the Kenya national examination council certificates while others do not have the practicing licence of the professional bodies in which they belong.

This report was handed over to the Homa bay county governor hon Gladys Wanga who said that the ghost workers will be removed from the payroll with immediate effect and those without proper documentation fired.

“The way forward is that we are going to implement this report and this will enable us to save public funds of over Sh300m. Our objective is to offer good services to the people,” Wanga said.

This was exposed just a day after the former governor of Kakamega county hon Wycliffe Oparanya was arrested by the officers from the ethics and anti corruption officers over corruption allegations.

Oparanya is accused of embezzling public funds amounting to 1.3 billion shillings during his tenure as the governor of Kakamega county for a period of ten years.
