DP WILLIAM RUTO APOLOGIZES TO THE PEOPLE

Deputy President William Rut has apologized to the family of the late Mahoo Ward, in Taita Taveta County, MCA Ronald Hanel Sagurani after his burial was interrupted by police.

While condoling with the family of the deceased, the DP blamed bad politics for the move and asked them for forgiveness.

“We are apologizing to you the family for what transpired earlier. I want to ask for forgiveness for all that because I am a government leader. When things that annoy the public happen, I must take that responsibility. We have all come here to give our friend a befitting send-off but unfortunately, it has been marred with small political issues and that is why we are apologizing,” he said.

He went further and asked leaders to accommodate one another instead of engaging in petty politics.

The DP stated that a united country can only be achieved if we bring everyone onboard instead of propagating small fights.

DP Ruto revealed that the deceased was his close ally whom they worked together until his unfortunate death.

He gave Ksh300,000 to support the family.

According to preliminary information, the burial was almost stopped by police over the fear of breaching Covid-19 protocols.

Allies of the Deputy President took to social media to condemn the police and at the same time attributed the drama to 2022 politics.

Kiharu MP Ndidni Nyoro blamed “orders from above” for the disruption saying the government is just keen on slowing DP Ruto’s presidential bid.

“An insecure regime is fighting in the air both overtly and covertly ostensibly to slow down William Ruto but gratefully, they have NO power over the destiny of any human being. Tumeyazoea haya,” he wrote on Facebook.

Lang’ata MP Nixon Korir on his part wrote: “Disrupting a funeral in Taita Taveta because HE William Ruto is attending is petty and unnecessary”.

The government recently issued new directives on how funerals should be conducted.

In his 9 points review of the Covid-19 measures, President Uhuru Kenyatta directed administrative officers to ensure not more than 100 people attend a funeral.

“Responsibility and consequence for a breach shall be borne by the National Government Administration Officers in whose jurisdiction the breach occurs,” President Uhuru instructed.
