BREAKING! CS RAPHAEL TUJU AND PRESIDENT UHURU IN MOURNING

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Thursday condoled with the family of Jubilee secretary general and CS Raphael Tuju, following the death of their mother Mama Mary Odiyo Tuju.

In his message, the president remembered Mama Mary as a hard-working community leader and elder who valued and supported education as the foundation of life.

“Her belief that education was the foundation of life was the inspiration that led many from her community to pursue education, and become productive members of society,” Uhuru said.

Mama Mary passed away on Wednesday night while undergoing treatment at the Karen hospital.

She died aged 87.

Uhuru described Mama Mary as a strong matriarch who raised a successful family.

He also prayed for God’s comfort to the Tuju family as they go through this difficult time, and assured of his support to the family.

In a statement Tuju said his mother passed away after being on life support for 56 days, at the Karen hospital.

He also thanked the doctors that attended to her.

“The family wishes to thank the great team of Doctors and Nurses of the Karen Hospital who took excellent care of her and the many friends and relatives who supported us during the period when she was critically ill,” Tuju said.
