WHAT HAPPENED AFTER RAILA ARRIVED LATE AT MUKAMI’S FUNERAL

Former Prime minister Raila Odinga temporarily disrupted the ongoing burial ceremony of Mau Mau war veteran, the late Mukami Kimathi after his late arrival at the burial. Raila arrived after both the deputy president and President Ruto had arrived.

Upon his arrival, Raila paid his final respects by viewing the body of the deceased. Ruto and Gachagua graciously stood and shook Raila’s hand, and the President even gave him a friendly pat on the shoulder, much to the delight of those in attendance. The crowd erupted into cheers, momentarily halting the solemnity of the funeral.

Shortly after Raila’s arrival, former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga also joined the event, followed by former Muranga governor Mwangi wa Iria, who was part of Raila’s entourage.

However, the two did not manage to get seats at the main front seats but sat at the back alongside other mourners.

This occasion marked the first public meeting between Ruto and Raila since the General Election on August 9, 2022.
