RUTO FINALLY ANNOUNCES HIS RUNNING MATE

The United Democract Alliance has announced that they have reached a decision on who will be William Ruto’s running mate but will announce it Sunday.

In an unusual midnight press conference called by Ruto’s Director of Communications Hussein Mohamed, which many thought was the one to announce the long-awaited decision, the party decided to keep Kenyans guessing for a few extra hours.

“The running mate issue was extensively discussed today, we are happy to announce that we have a decision as Kenya Kwanza and the decision has been reached and will be officially communicated to you, to the country tomorrow,” said Mr. Mohamed who later clarified he meant Sunday and not Monday.

Mr. Mohamed said that Kenya Kwanza Alliance held a series of meetings on Saturday. Other issues were discussed away from the running mate issue were.

“The meeting today has agreed on a program on the Bottom Up Economic Forum and the development of charters for the remaining counties,” he said.

Present in the meeting were some of the alliance’s bigwigs led by Mr. Ruto, Musailia Mudavadi, Moses Wetangula, Speaker Justin Muturi, Amason Kingi, William Kabogo, Alfred Mutua and Moses Kuria.

Kenya Kwanza Alliance had announced that they will make known who will be William Ruto’s running mate on Saturday but that never materialised with rumours of last minute jostling further complicating the political headache.

Names floated for the top position include Tharaka Nithi Senator Kindiki Kithure, Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua, ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi, Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru and National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi.
