NAME OF OFFICERS WHO MURDERED KIANJOKOMA BROTHERS REVEALED.

The six police officers arrested over the killing of the two brothers from Kianjokoma, Embu County arrived at the Milimani Law Courts at around 12 pm on Tuesday, August 17, 2021.

The officers were escorted into the court under heavy police presence.

The officers are:

Corporal Consolata Njeri

Corporal Benson Mbuthia

Constable Lilian Cherono

Constable Martin Wanyama

Constable Nicholas Sang

Constable James Mwaniki.

Reports indicate that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji has requested for more time to detain the suspects through a miscellaneous application to conclude investigations.

The two brothers; Benson Njiru and Emmanuel Mutura were found dead a day after they had been arrested by the police. An autopsy conducted at the Embu Level 5 Hospital indicated that the two succumbed to head and rib injuries inflicted by a blunt object.

The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) concluded the investigations and forwarded a file to the DPP after which he called for the arrest of the officers.

IPOA recommended murder charges against the six police officers involved in the death of two Embu brothers Emmanuel Mutura and Benson Njiru.

In a statement, IPOA chairperson Anne Makori said the authority made three recommendations to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), among them facing murder charges and suspension from service.

“That the officers and their commanders, who have since been interrogated and their statements recorded, be available round the clock for further assistance to IPOA investigators when called upon,” said the statement in part.
