GOVT MAKES CHANGES TO MID TERM BREAK

A recently implemented change will result in students at every level of education having their midterm vacation earlier than anticipated. This move was officially made public by Dr. Belio Kipsang, the Ministry of Education’s Principal Secretary for Basic Education, in a circular dated April 24.

The midterm vacation is slated to take place from June 27 to July 1, 2023, rather than the original dates of June 29 to July 2, 2023. The modification was carried out in accordance with an application from Mr. Indimuli Kahi, the Machakos School’s director and presently chair of the Kenya Secondary Heads Association (KSSHA). He asked for the modification so that principals of secondary schools could attend the 46th KESSHA meeting.

The Ministry of Education’s determination to accommodate major meetings and school-related activities may be seen in its choice to change the schedule of the midseason holidays.

The midterm vacation for the second term can be extended so that school leaders can attend the KESSHA summit without being interrupted. These modifications show how adaptable and supportive the state is of Kenyan teachers’ professional growth chances.
