Go Home! List of Leaders Forced Out of Ruto’s Govt

They say that power is transient. And for former high ranking Kenya Army soldier Major General ( Rtd) Gordon Kihalangwa, this reality must be hitting him very hard.

A one-time insider in the country’s security arrangement, Major General ( Rtd) Kihalangwa rose to become the deputy chief of Defence Forces in-charge of logistics before calling it a day after almost three decades as a soldier.

Soon after exiting the military, he was handed a soft landing by former President Uhuru Kenyatta who appointed him as the Director General of Immigration Services to replace Jane Waikenda.

The former soldier would serve in the position until 2018, when he was appointed as Immigration Principal Secretary.

In 2019, the USA-educated Kihalangwa was transfered to the Ministry of Defence as PS. He would serve there for one year before being moved to the Ministry of Energy.

A no-nonsense adminstrator, his military career must have influenced this approach to issues. That’s how he strived to dismantle cartels in the energy docket when he served as PS.

But in 2022, Dr Kihalangwa’s fairytale public service career came to abrupt end when he was kicked out of President William Ruto regime. He became one of the biggest casualties of the Ruto broom to the Uhuru-era technocrats.
