The Kitui county governor Charity Ngilu will nolonger be defending her seat after dropping out of the Kitui county gubernatorial race.
Governor Charity Ngilu who is the NARC Rainbow party leader had won the seat in 2017 and was facing a stiff competition in the 2022 gubernatorial race after a number of opinion polls showed that she was trailing.
While speaking during their Kitui campaign she told the people that she will be dropping out of the race to support Raila’s presidential ambitions while Raila also promised her a lucrative should they form the next government.
Charity Ngilu has always accompanied Raila in his campaigns ever since the formation of the Azimio La Umoja movement.
Charity Ngilu had severed as the minister for Health in president Kibaki’s first term government and in the second term of President Kibaki’s administration she served as the minister for Water and Irrigation.
She may be given on of this ministries to head should Azimio form the next government given the legacy Kibaki’s administration left while she was the minister and is therefore well conversant with the two ministries
