TOP POLITICIAN’S SEX VIDEO LEAKED AFTER HIS PHONE WAS HACKED

Mr Gigaba insisted he had “steadfastly refused to entertain” a string of alleged blackmail attempts, adding: “This video has been at the centre of a number of blackmail and extortion attempts, dating back to the period immediately following my appointment as Minister of Finance, on March 31, 2017.”

Malusi Gigaba, South Africa’s Home Affairs minister, says he has been blackmailed over the X-rated footage which came to light after his mobile was intercepted.

Mr Gigaba, former finance minister, told how his phone was hacked between 2016 and 2017 when he was running the treasury – but is now circulating “among political figures”.

He insisted the video, of a “sexual nature”, was only intended to be viewed by him and his wife.

It comes amid claims the video does not actually feature his wife but was meant to be sent to her, his spokesperson reportedly said.

Mr Gigaba said sorry to his family in a statement posted on Twitter this morning.

He told his 130,000 followers: “My wife and I have learned, with regret and sadness, that a video containing material of a sexual nature, meant for our eyes only, which was stolen when my communication got illegally intercepted/my phone got hacked, in 2016/17, is circulating among certain political figures.

“I take this opportunity to publicly apologise, in advance, to the rest of my family – especially my kids, my mom and my in-laws – and the South African public for the pain and embarrassment the likely wider distribution of this private material will cause.”
