According to eyewitnesses, the truck that was ferrying the LPG towards Kisumu appeared to have experienced brake failure in the Sunday afternoon incident.

The truck was descending a steep stretch of highway when the driver lost control, veered off the road, overturned, and landed in a ditch, according to police.

The truck burst into flames moments later.

Members of the public and other road users passing through the highway helped to rescue the driver, who suffered minor injuries and was taken to Kericho County Referral Hospital.
