KDF RECRUITMENT DATES ANNOUNCED

The Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) is set to conduct a recruitment exercise for both general and specialised troops categories in a six day long exercise slated to begin on November 15 and conclude on November 20, 2021.

In a notice shared on the local dailies on Tuesday, the military said it is looking to recruit General Service Officer Cadets, General Service Officer Cadets (Graduate degree holders), Specialist Officers, General Duty Recruits, Tradesmen and Defence Forces Constables.

In order to be considered for any of the roles, applicants must be over 18 years of age and be registered  Kenyan citizens. They must also be in the possession of a valid Kenya National Identity Card and KRA PIN certificate.

Having no criminal record is a must and candidates have to meet the minimum physical requirements stipulated by the KDF. Men must be at least 1.6 metres tall (5ft 3in) with a minimum body weight of 54.55 kilograms (120 lb). Women on the other hand have to be at least 1.52 metres tall and weigh 50 kilograms or more.

The body mass index for both men and women must be below 30. Female candidates must also not be pregnant at the time of recruitment.

Interested applicants looking to apply for the GSO Cadets vacancy and General Duty Recruits should not exceed 26 years of age while Specialist Officers and Tradesmen should be at most 30 years of age. Chaplains, imams and medical consultants should not be over 39 years of age.

“Candidates must be medically fit and their skin must be healthy devoid of large or deep scars and tattoos. Specialist Officers and Tradesmen should have a minimum of two years practising experience in their field of specialisation from the date of registration with the relevant regulatory body in Kenya,” the KDF announcement read.

The Defense Forces similarly warned members of the public against engaging in malpractices with a view to ‘influence’ the recruitment process.

“Bribery and other acts of corruption are against the law and anyone suspected of being culpable of such, will be arrested and prosecuted in a court of law. KDF recruitment is absolutely FREE TO ALL,” KDF said.

All applications must be submitted online on the Ministry of Defence’s website no later than November 14, 2021. Successful candidates will be informed via print media between November 21 to November 27, 2021.
