REVEALED: WHERE RUTO WILL HOLD HIS FINAL RALLY

Ford Kenya Party leader Moses Wetangula now says that the Kenya Kwanza coalition will hold its final campaign rally on Saturday, August 6 in the Nairobi Central Business Department (CBD) if they are denied access to the Nyayo Stadium.

Addressing residents of Eldama Ravine in Baringo County on Monday, Wetangula said the coalition led by Deputy President William Ruto would pitch camp at the junction between Moi Avenue and Kenyatta Avenue.

“On Saturday, August 6, our meeting if you don’t open Nyayo Stadium will be at the junction of Moi Avenue and Kenyatta Avenue,” Wetangula said.

The senator sought to assure their supporters of peace during the Saturday event, saying that police officers would only be present to offer protection.

“Just as we did in Eldoret, we will notify the police, because the law does not require them to give us permission, it requires we give them notice,” the senator said.

“Polisi wakikuja watalinda maduka ya watu na sisi tutakuwa na mkutano at the junction of Moi and Kenyatta Avenue.”

This follows a directive from the Ministry of Sports that denied access to Kenya Kwanza and Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalitions entry into Nyayo and Kasarani stadiums due to peace events scheduled for the said dates.

“We regret to inform you that due to peace concerts scheduled to take place at both Moi International Sports Centre-Kasarani and Nyayo National Stadium between 5th to 7th, the facility will not be available for your use,” read a statement signed by Pius Metto, the Sports Kenya Director General.

The Raila Odinga-led Azimio coalition on the other hand has since resolved to shift its final rally ahead of the August 9 polls to Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.
