UDA MCA CHASED AWAY FROM POLLING STATION

There was confusion in various polling stations in Kiambu County after hundreds of potential voters including an area Member of the County Assembly were denied a chance to exercise their democratic right in the ongoing United Democratic Alliance (UDA) nominations after their names mysteriously went missing in the party’s voters’ register.

The voters say that they were denied an opportunity to exercise their democratic right by the election officials at the polling centres because their names were missing from the register.

“I missed the opportunity to determine my leaders of choice in the UDA nominations after being told that my name was nowhere in the party’s register,” Paul Mwangi, a voter at Athi Primary School said.

Kalimoni Ward MCA Geoffrey Mucheke who is also seeking to retain his seat on the UDA ticket also expressed frustration with the party’s nomination process after his name too was not found from the register.

“It’s unfortunate that many, including those I mobilized to go and vote for me, failed to vote as their names were not in the provided list.

“Political parties should have proper strategies of ensuring clear election guidelines to avoid this confusion,” Mucheke who still expressed optimism about winning the party ticket said.
