2 Police Officers Steal Ksh 696k From Student

Two police officers attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Kamukunji have been arrested in a gang wreaking havoc in Kiambu.

Police officers Benson Kitheka Mutisya and Kennedy Muriuki Gathathu were arrested alongside Mutenge Mbeti and Lewis Ndirangu Kariuki as they were on their way to engage in another act of robbery.

The police were first made aware of the gang’s activities on Monday, July 31, after they ambushed a third-year Machakos University student named Robinson Mogaka.

Mogaka said in his statement under OB No. 37/31/07/2023 that the gang asked him where he was headed and asked to tag along.

Upon reaching his friend Abdulrahman Juma’s house, they handcuffed him and took him to a petrol station in Marurui, forcing them to fuel their vehicle.

“On reaching Kenyatta Road in Juja, he was blocked by a white motor vehicle registration number KCX 965B. Three men armed with a pistol handcuffed him and forced him to take them to his friend’s Abdulrahman Juma house, which he did.

They also handcuffed him and took them to Total Petrol Station in Marurui, where they forced them to fuel their vehicle. They transferred Kshs 85,000/- from Robinson’s phone and another KSh 611,632 from both complainants through Binance online transaction,” read the police report seen by k24
