SENATOR MILLICENT OMANGA HAS DECIDED TO LAY IT BARE
Nominated Senator Millicent Omanga has come out to claim that the rule of law in the country doesn’t favour Deputy President William Ruto’s supporters.
According to Omanga, the country is being ruled by two sets of laws, with one governing people associated or suspected to be associated with DP Ruto while the other governs those aligned to Azimio la Umoja led by Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga.
“This country has two sets of laws, one that governs people associated or suspected to be associated to the deputy president and those aligned to Azimio,” Omanga said.
The Ruto-allied lawmaker further stated politicians allied to Raila are safe from government bullying whereas those allied to Ruto face unending intimidation from government agencies.
“If you’re allied to Azimio you’re safe. If you’re aligned to the DP, your goose is cooked. Nothing will happen to Kinoti,” Omanga said.
Omanga was speaking in reference to the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss George Kinoti’s warrant of arrest.
However Kinoti was offered a breather after the Court of Appeal temporarily suspended his committal to jail for four months.
A three-judge bench led by Justice Fatuma Sichale suspended the sentence pending the delivery of a detailed ruling on April, 1, 2022.
The decision comes after the AG filed an appeal challenging the decision of the High Court to commit Kinoti to civil jail over contempt of the court’s order.
