President Killed By His Bodyguard

Assassination of a president, prime minister, monarch, or other famous figure can have far-reaching consequences for a country.When a leader is assassinated, it can be so terrifying and profound that it creates what psychologists call “flashbulb memories” in the public.

Many individuals will remember where they were and what they were doing when they discovered their leader had been assassinated.

Following is a list of African presidents who were assassinated by their own bodyguards. 

1 Army Chief Ibrahim Bare

According to military officials in Niamey, Niger’s president, Ibrahim Bare Mainassara, was assassinated by members of his own presidential guard. 

The sources declined to comment on the cause for the assassination, but corroborated the US State Department’s account of events.Communication lines, radio stations, and borders have all been cut off. The military, who were stationed around Niamey, surrounded the international airport. Only family members and international officials attended his funeral two days following his death. 

2.Louis Kabila (Congo) 

According to diplomats and allies, Congo’s President Laurent Kabila was shot and assassinated after deposing one of Africa’s great dictators but then bringing his country into even greater disorder.

According to John E. Aycoth, a lobbyist and public relations specialist in Washington who functions as Mr. Kabila’s spokesman in the United States, the president was shot by one of his bodyguards. He claimed to have spoken with top Congolese authorities, who informed him that the president was no longer alive.
