OPARANYA REPLACES UHURU KENYATTA

A serious political audit is currently on within the opposition coalition, Azimio la umoja One Kenya coalition party, after the outfit lost the August general elections to the ruling Kenya Kwanza alliance and its then presidential candidate Dr William Ruto.

As The Sunday Nation reports, plans for the 2027 general elections have already kicked off in Azimio even as the outfit also prepares for life without former president Uhuru Kenyatta who is expected to resign from Azimio in the coming days.

According to findings made by The Sunday Nation, the coalition has reportedly decided that ODM party leader Raila Odinga will make a sixth attempt at the presidency in the 2027 presidential election.

According to the publication, plans are at an advanced stage to name Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka to be Raila Odinga’s running mate in the said polls with Martha Karua dropped.

However, Karua would be named as the Azimio coalition deputy party leader, seemingly to compensate for her loss of the running mate slot that she was given in August. Former Kakamega county governor Wycliffe Oparanya is said to be lined up to replace Uhuru Kenyatta as the Azimio coalition chairperson when Uhuru announces his exit.
