MP SUSPENDED AFTER POSTING NASTY PHOTOS ON WHATSAPP

Kanyenyaini Ward Representative Grace Nduta has been given a four-month suspension from Murang’a County Assembly over alleged misconduct.

The ruling was announced by the powers and privileges committee which was investigating her over an alleged WhatsApp message criticizing her colleagues for their lack of oversight and for having misplaced priorities.

The MCA has been suspended from her seat on the Speaker’s panel, House Business and Rules and Committee on Selection.

The committee, led by Speaker Johnson Mukuha, presented its recommendation to the assembly for review, and the majority agreed with the disciplinary action.

Nduta had a brush with the House three weeks ago after posting a message in the Muranga County Politics (MCP) WhatsApp group during a discussion on the health sector. The discussion followed the demise of a well-known lawyer who perished from an alleged lack of oxygen and an ambulance to take him to another hospital. In the discussion, Nduta opined that the health service in the county is on its deathbed.

She reproved her peers for not compelling the executive to provide the people with quality medical care. However, her colleagues reproached the MCA’s comments, calling for the powers and privileges committee to penalise her for her words.

The assembly’s Majority Leader Francis Kibe informed that she had been requested to retract her statements but refused to do so. Kibe said the ward rep is to blame for the woes, suggesting that she should have used another method to express her grievances rather than posting it on the internet.
