Faith Yegon Awarded 2Million By The Govt

After winning the two gold medals in the just concluded world championship in Budapest yesterday. Faith Kipyegon is set to receive some good amounts of money from the government of Kenya.

The government through Salaries and renumeration commission, athletes who win a gold medal in major events such as the world championship receives one million Kenyan shillings for the gold.

Faith Kipyegon won two gold medals in 1500 metres and 5000 metres.The 29 year old is set to pocket a whopping 2 million Kenyan shillings for her amazing performances in the world championships.

The reports also indicate that silver medalists will take home Ksh.750,000 while bronze medal winners will take home Ksh.500,000.It serves as a good appreciation for the athletes for flying the Kenyan flag high to the world.

On the other hand,Harambee Stars players receive a daily allowance of Ksh.1000 while in the country’s training camp.At the same time,the players receive 60 US dollars which is equivalent to Ksh.8,000 in the current exchange rates while outside the country on a daily basis.

Nick Mwendwa had asked for an increment of the allowances but it was not possible since the SRC is the one that regulates the salaries and allowance allocation.

Meanwhile, Harambee Stars coach Engin Firat has named his provisional Squad ahead of the world Cup qualifiers. Kenya is set to play against Qatar in the FIFA friendly match before playing South Sudan in Nairobi. The match between Kenya and Qatar will be played in Doha.It is a high profile friendly that the players will be keen to use for their career developments.

Michael Olunga has retained his position in the national team with emerging striker Moses Shummah also receiving the nod.However,Ayub Timbe is one of the big names that will be making a return back to the national team Harambee Stars.Timbe is known for his speed and an eye for the goal.The winger has been out of the national team Harambee Stars squad for almost three years now.His return is something to keep a close eye ahead of the world Cup qualifiers.

Elsewhere, the transfer window is drawing near it’s end,teams have lined up a huge surprise on the last day of the transfer window as they look to bolster their squads ahead of the ongoing league matches. Napoli have reached a verbal agreement with Jesper Lindestrom who could join the club from Eintracht Frankfurt.The Italian league title defending champions will be looking to bolster their squad as they look to defend their title this summer.
