Amount of Money Kenyans Bribe to Be Recruited to KDF
Prominent legal practitioner Ahmednasir Abdullahi of Nairobi has disclosed the monetary sum that citizens of Kenya are compelled to relinquish as a bribe in order to get enlistment into the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF).
In response to the statement made by Defence Cabinet Secretary, Aden Duale, regarding the forthcoming recruitment process of the Kenyan Defence Forces (KDF), Ahmednasir expressed skepticism, asserting that the CS’s claim of a free and fair procedure is misleading. Ahmednasir contends that aspiring KDF recruits are compelled to offer a bribe up to Sh 400,000, hence challenging the veracity of the CS’s assertion.
It is widely acknowledged among the Kenyan populace, including General Ogolla, that each individual enlisted as a private in the Kenyan Defence Force during this particular recruitment process is expected to provide a bribe amounting to Kshs 400,000 (about $2800) or maybe higher.
Ahmednasir expressed resignation towards the prevailing Kenyan reality, acknowledging the collective acceptance of this sentiment by Waziri, General Ogolla, and himself. This statement was shared on Ahmednasir’s Twitter platform.
The commencement of the KDF recruitment procedure is scheduled for late August, with a duration spanning an entire month to the conclusion of September.
