The Kenyan market is flooding with cars which have made many kenyans opt for the prestigious personalized number plates as status symbol.

The government through the national transport and safety authority introduced a new motor regulations that will cost 1000,000 Kenyan shillings which is paid annually for such number plates.

Incase of the replacement of the personalized number plates,you will be required to provide several documents which includes an English translated foreign logbook,import entry form,port release among others. An additional 50,000 fee is imposed for the replacement.

Rules of issuance.

There are some of the rules that govern issuance of the personalized number plates.

1. The number plate should have a maximum of eight and minimum of 3 characters in capital letters only.
2. Letter”O” and “I” are not allowed just as in normal number plates series.

The distinct number plate are also vehicle specific,you are not allowed to keep transferring from one vehicle to another instead you have to pay an additional ksh 20,000 to get the personalized for the other vehicle.

Some Kenyans having their cars mounted with personalized number plates include international football stars Donald Mariga ,his brother Victor Wanyama, songwriter Nadia Mukami ,former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko and lawyer Donald Kipkorir.
