Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi has been dragged to court by Winfred Wangui whom he raped and sired a daughter with.

Wangui revealed in a sworn affidavit that Wamatangi raped her on July 18th, 2006 while she was working as a maid in his house.

The woman has sued Wamatangi for upkeep for many years but the cases never proceeded in court as she accuses the lawmakers of using money and influence to thwart the suits.

Wangui accused Wamatangi of raping and siring a child with her in a case which she filed at the Children’s Court on March 4th 2014.

“I am the plaintiff herein and was from July 2006 working for the defendant as a housemaid. On July 18, at about mid-day, the defendant defiled me in his house. He threatened me with dire consequences if I reported to the police. Subsequently, I left employment and conceived.

“I gave birth on April 23, 2007. The defendant has all along been aware of these facts. When I ask for child support, he erratically sends a sum of Sh3,000, which he sends after a long time and when he is pushed. I am jobless.

“The defendant has all along despite constant requests refused and/or neglected to provide any child support notwithstanding that the plaintiff is jobless. The said minor is now in Class Two and the plaintiff is unable due to the fact that she is not in gainful employment,” said Winfred Wangui in a sworn affidavit.

In March 2018, Wangui approached Kenya Human Rights Commission for help and they referred her to FIDA who filed a new case at Kiambu Children’s Court on June 19th.

The hearing, which was set for June 26th, 2018, couldn’t proceed because the file had disappeared.

“I am totally tired. I don’t think I have the energy to fight for my daughter anymore. money has won. I have lost five lawyers and the case has gone through four magistrates. They take the case, but within weeks, they ask me to get another lawyer,” Wangui said during a media interview.

In 2019, a Children’s court in Nairobi ordered Wamatangi to cater for the girl’s education, medical expenses, and take a medical cover for her.

“School fees is paid termly and therefore it is not a monthly maintenance. The defendant (Wamatangi) shall pay school fees as per the school fees structure. He shall also pay school fees related expenses,” Magistrate M. Murage ruled.

On the other hand, Wangui was directed to provide rent, clothing, and miscellaneous expenses for her daughter.

Fast forward to 2021, Wangui is back in the corridors of the justice-seeking court order to compel Wamatangi to cater for their daughter’s school fee.

Wangui has dragged the Kiambu Senator to court for refusing to cater for their daughter’s admission to State House Girls.

The distraught mother told K24 Digital that attempts to reach Wamatangi to settle the fees required for her admission to form one have been futile as he has been taking her in circles.

The girl sat for her KCPE exam at Crowns King Academy in Juja Farm, Kiambu, and scored 391 out of the possible 500 marks. She has earned admission to State House Girls’ in Nairobi.

“The girl has received an admission letter to a good school but I cannot manage to raise the required money. Wamatangi, who is the father of the bright girl, blocked me and failed to respond to my text messages that I wrote to him reminding him of his role,” Wangui said during an interview with journalists.

She further claimed that the Senate Majority Whip occasionally sent Ksh 5,000 for primary school fees, after she piled pressure on him.
