Isaac Mwaura’s Wife Speaks of Commiting Suicide
Nelius Mukami, the resilient wife of prominent politician Isaac Mwaura, has courageously opened up about her personal struggles with mental health and being on the brink of despair.
In a heartfelt message shared on September 10th to mark Suicide Awareness Day, Mukami shed light on her own journey and the powerful symbolism behind her unique tattoo.
In a photo proudly displaying her tattoo, Mukami shared, “As we celebrate Suicide Awareness Day, I wear my semi-colon tattoo with pride. It reminds me that even though I have struggled with depression, I have attempted suicide and battled mental illness, my life can still go on, and it will still go on.”
The semi-colon tattoo holds profound significance, both in literature and in life.
In literature, a semicolon represents the continuation of a sentence rather than an ending.
Similarly, in the context of life, a semicolon tattoo signifies an individual’s choice to persevere.
It serves as a powerful reminder that life, like a sentence, can continue, no matter how challenging the circumstances may be.
She encourages her fans to recognize that they are not alone and that help is available.
“Suicide is a deeply serious issue, but it is also preventable,” she said.
Mukami implores those in distress to reach out to someone they trust, whether it’s a friend, family member, or mental health professional, as they can offer vital support and connect individuals with resources to cope with their feelings.
In addition to her recent revelation, Mukami had previously shared her experiences living with depression, anxiety, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
She acknowledged that managing these conditions has been one of the most challenging aspects of her life.
“It has taken a lot from me and it continues taking. It takes so much effort just to avoid it and it still finds me even in my happiest of days and in my solitude,” she said.
