AZIMIO CALLS OF TOMORROW’S DEMONSTRATION

Azimio la Umoja, through Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka, has issued a fresh statement ahead of their planned anti-government protests on Thursday.

Kalonzo Musyoka has stated that Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party is ready to call off their planned protests on Thursday and head back to the bipartisan talks.

In his statement, Kalonzo noted that Azimio is ready to get back to the talks table with the Kenya Kwanza side under one condition, that Jubilee Party MP Adan Kenan is not part of the Kenya Kwanza bipartisan committee.

Kalonozo noted that if Kenya Kwanza can replace Adan Kenan with any other lawmaker, then they are ready to call off the demos and re-enter the talks

He noted that they issued the same demand last Sunday but the Kenya Kwanza side ignored their call, which made them go back to the streets on Tuesday.

“We, in AZIMIO LA UMOJA ONE KENYA, announce, on a without prejudice basis, that we are prepared to go back to the Bipartisan talks with our opposite side in KENYA KWANZA and are prepared to stand down the demonstration scheduled for tomorrow Thursday, 4th May 2023, provided that KENYA KWANZA recuses Hon.

Adan Kenan from the bipartisan Committee and immediately announces his replacement on the said Committee. This was the offer I made on Sunday at the Cathedral of Praise Ministries Int’l. All our other conditions remain the same,” Kalanzo noted.

The new twist comes a few days after Raila Odinga declared that anti-government protests are going to happen concurrently with bipartisan talks.

This indicates the opposition is ready to shelve the protests plan and focus on bipartisan talks instead of having then two, protests and talks, running at the same time.
