ANNE WAIGURU FOUND IN ANOTHER BIG SCANDAL

Murega Baichu, the husband of embattled Meru governor Kawira Mwangaza has left Kenyans sharply divided after complaining of being a Victim of Gender-Based Violence.

In a press briefing at the Milimani Law Courts, Baichu claimed that he is being ‘bullied’ by MCAs ever since Mwangaza appointed her as the Meru Youth Service Patron.

“When the governor was elected she was given an official residence. It has now been said that I am not supposed to stay at the residence because  I am not a county government official. I now stay at our private residence,” the first gentleman said.

He further asked the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission to help him identify his limits as Mwangaza’s husband.

“I would like the anti-graft watchdog to help me so that I can know if I can sleep in the governor’s official residence and also if I qualify to be carried by her official vehicles. As it stands, I think I am a victim of gender-based violence and this is just not limited to females,” Baichu further said.

Weighing in on the unfolding drama, a section of Kenyans further castigated him for clinging to his wife instead of allowing her to do her job. Using the example of Anne Waiguru, a netizen said that her husband, Kamotho Waiganjo is never seen following her wherever she goes.

“Waiguru is on her second term and there has never been a problem as to where her husband belongs. He’s a lawyer and he’s out there doing his own thing, living his best life and at the same time being a husband to her. He has never interfered with her work or career,” read a comment on Twitter.

“Hii jamaa imekalia uyu mumama, lakini hapa inacheza reverse psychology na watu. Awachane na mama afanye kazi. Akae mbali na siasa na meetings za mama. Yeye afanye kazi zake personal,” another claimed.

“Atafute ule bwana ya waiguru amfunze how to be a first-gentleman for a county…be mostly a ghost. For the short stint Joyce Laboso was governor for Bomet I didn’t even know she was married,” another Kenyan said.

Others however felt that Baichu is just right in supporting his wife just like how the president and governors operate with their wives.

“People should just give this guy a break. The president travels with his first lady anywhere and everywhere. Now counties are semi-autonomous territories of Kenya, a simple replica of the Kenya government. The governor should travel with her husband whenever and wherever she wants,” a netizen said.
