WAITITU WINS IN COURT
A court on Monday, September 19 adjourned a case in which former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu and 12 others are facing graft charges.
Milimani Chief Magistrate allowed for the adjournment as prayed by the defense team. In the case, Waititu and co-accused persons are accused of conspiring to irregularly award of KSh588 million road tender to proxy companies.
The prosecution – led by Faith Mwila and Linda Mwamburi – was ready with two witnesses. The prosecution has produced 27 witnesses in the case.
The hearing is set to continue on October 14 2022.
KSh588M graft case
Waititu is charged alongside his wife Susan Wangari, former County Chief Officer for Roads Luka Mwangi, six county employees, businessman Charles Chege and his wife Beth Wangeci.
Waititu and his wife – in wanton conflict of interest – are alleged to have received up to KSh51 million from the county through their companies; Saika Two Estate Developers Ltd and Benvenue Delta Hotel.
Prosecution says that the scheme to defraud Kiambu County Government – which prosecution says started in February 26, 2018 – was initiated by Chege and his wife through their company Testimony Enterprises.
