RELEASED DATES FOR SCHOOLS TO CLOSE FOR THE ELECTIONS.
According to the Ministry of Education, there will be a mandatory break in the academic calendar of 2022 to allow for smooth electioneering process for the highly contested general election of 2022.
According to a news item, all elementary, middle, and high schools will be closed on August 6, 2022, for the second half of term two. For the sake of facilitating the approaching general election, this choice was made.
On the thirteenth of August 2022, students everywhere will report back to class ready to dive back into term two of the 2022 school year’s curricula. The weeklong recess that began on August 8 of that year (2022) will now come to an end.
The break is important because the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission plans to employ many public elementary and secondary schools as polling places and tallying centers for the contentious national elections scheduled for August.
