Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga has called on Kenyans to be ambassadors of peace and unity during the electioneering period.
Speaking on Sunday atSt. Francis ACK Church in Karen, Raila said his only message is that they are instruments of peace, healing and keeping hope alive for Kenya, which is what he would want to see happen.
He said the situation in Kenya is a reflection of the words of St. Francis of Assisi.
“I have a message I want to share and I will quote from St. Francis of Assisi, which says, make me an instrument of your peace. And this is what he says, Lord make me an instrument of your peace, where there is hatred, let be so love, where there is injury, pardon.
Where there is doubt, faith, where there is despair hope. Where there is darkness, light and where there is sadness, joy,” Raila said.
The former Prime minister said he was grateful that the election was peaceful, and he hopes peace will prevail even after the election is done.
” We also want to thank the Lord that campaigns have been peaceful and elections also have been peaceful so far and we hope peace will prevail even after the elections are over because we want Kenya to be stronger going forward,” he said.
This was the first time Raila has stepped out in public since election day.
He attended a church service at St. Francis ACK Church in Karen, accompanied by Cotu boss Francis Atwoli, Kanu chairman Gideon Moi and Lang’ata MP-elect Phelix Kodhe.
Raila’s running mate Martha Karua was also present at the service.
