CURRENT SITUATION IN NAIROBI CBD
It is Thursday 30th March, the day that was declared by the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition wing as another day for protests. The coalition, led by their party leader Raila Odinga, had on Monday led anti-government demonstrations in Nairobi and some parts of the country.
Now, reliable source of information revealed the current situation in some parts of the Nairobi County as at 6AM today.
According to the report from the reliable source, Anti-Riot police had already been deployed to Uhuru Highway this morning in preparation to maintaining law and order during the protests. The source revealed that Processional way coming from Serena Hotel towards Dennis Pritt was already blocked by the Anti-Riot police this morning.
“06:18 Fellow middle class Kenyans, if you’re driving; well before 6.00am GSU had been deployed to Uhuru Highway, Processional Way coming from Serena towards Dennis Pritt already blocked…,”
On the other hand, a look into Nairobi CBD revealed that some Kenyans had woken up to their usual businesses.
As seen in the video shared by the source, several businesses were already opened at Ronald Ngala Street in the CBD as at 6AM.
Some people could also be seen going about their normal businesses as many shops were already opened as at the time. Some people could also be seen walking to their places of work, with no police presence spotted in the area.
It should be remembered that Nairobi CBD has been under heavy police protection and has never been accessed by the demonstrators in the previous Azimio protests that have already been witnessed.
