REST IN PEACE: CELEBRATED KENYAN COACH DIES.
Sad news to kenyans after a popular and celebrated coach was pronounced dead. Kakamega Prisons men’s volleyball team is mourning the sudden death of their coach Abdalla Musa Olando.
Olando succumbed to spinal injury at the Kakamega Teaching and Referral hospital in Kakamega County on Friday night.
Olando was involved in a road accident last year alongside five players when their van collided with another car in Laikipia County as the team was heading to Nanyuki grounds for the Kenya Volleyball Federation National League matches.
According to a source who sought anonymity, the death of the tactician was triggered by that of his mother, Khadija Nyargolo who passed away on Thursday.
“His death was triggered by his mother’s death and it’s sad that they will both be laid to rest on Saturday according to their Islamic faith,” said the source.
Olando was first admitted to Kenyatta hospital, then later transferred to National spiral injury hospital before he was moved to Mukumu hospital and later Kakamega Teaching and Referral hospital where he breathed his last.
Kenya Volleyball Federation President Waithaka Kioni led the volleyball fraternity in condoling with the family.
“Indeed very sad, a double tragedy for the family. May God almighty comfort and encourage the affected family. May the souls of the departed rest in eternal peace,” said Kioni.
KVF Deputy President Charles Nyaberi said, “My sincere condolences to coach Olando’s family on his sad demise plus that of his mother! May the good Lord rest their souls in eternal peace!”
“Poleni Sana to the family and may they rest in peace. Inna illahi wa innalilahi Rajiun. May Allah give them Janatul Firdaus inshaAllah,” said coach Halima Bakari.
“Our very own Coach Olando of Prisons Kakamega has passed on and his mother too has gone to be with the Lord, double tragedy,” said KVF Technical Director David Lung’aho.
