RUTO ANNOUNCES 7 POLITICIANS TO FACE AZIMIO IN BIPARTISAN TALK

President William Ruto has finally held the much awaited Kenya Kwanza Parliamentary Group meeting to discuss the bipartisan talks and how to approach them.

The President has expressed his support for a bi-partisan approach to fill vacant positions in the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), welcoming cooperation between political parties.

President Ruto has called for Opposition leader Odinga to either agree to a Parliament-led initiative to resolve the post-election crisis, or to wait for the 2027 elections.

The President has stated that negotiations will only involve lawmakers, and has rejected the opposition’s calls for a process similar to the National Accord of 2008.

Raila had earlier on insisted that leaders outside of Parliament should be involved in the mediation process, but the President has emphasized that any bi-partisan process must be conducted within the bounds of the law.

In addition, Ruto has finally unveiled his team that will lead the talks.

Kimani Ichung’wah – Majority Leader: Senator Boni Khalwale, MP George Murugara, Senator Essy Okenyuri, MP Mwengi Mutuse, Woman Rep. Lydia Haika, Senator Hillary Sigei and MP Adan Keynan nominated to lead Kenya Kwanza team in bipartisan talks with Azimio.
