UHURU HIGHWAY TO BE CLOSED
The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) on Friday announced that a section of Uhuru Highway will be blocked to motorists throughout the weekend until Tuesday.
The authority, in a statement released on Saturday, said the temporary closure affecting the section between Bunyala Roundabout and Haile Selasie Roundabout towards the CBD is meant to pave way for erecting of two cross culverts.
“KeNHA wishes to notify the public that a section along Uhuru Highway from Bunyala Roundabout to Haile Selassie Roundabout will be closed from Friday, October 7, 2022, at 10.00 pm to Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at 5.00 am,” read the notice by KeNHA Director General Kungu Ndungu.
“This is to pave way for the construction of two cross culverts in that section of Mombasa Road.”
Road users entering and leaving the CBD are thus urged to observe the traffic directory and use alternative routes as they remain vigilant during the said period.
“Motorists heading towards the City Centre are advised to take Bunyala Road then take Lower Hill Road towards Haile Selassie Avenue as indicated in the drawing below or use alternative routes whenever possible,” KeNHA noted.
“All motorists are requested to exercise caution and follow the proposed traffic management plan as they cooperate with the police and traffic marshals on site.”
