SAD! WHAT MAGOHA’S SON DID TO HIM BEFORE HIS DEATH
Former Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha collapsed four times before finally breathing his last.
His close friend and colleague in the field of medicine Prof Walter Mwanda detailed the last moments of Magoha.
When he collapsed the first, second, and third time, he was resuscitated by his only son, who is also a medical doctor.
Mwanda explained that he was asked by Magoha’s wife to rush to their home with a blood pressure machine but even before he could arrive, he was again requested to look for an ambulance.
“When I arrive at their home, I was rushed by his son straight to where he was. He was seated actually. He greeted me and said ‘oh you have come!’. When I tried to take the blood pressure, it was not recording. At that time, he slipped off from his sitting position and we carried him to the car.
“From the information, he had what we call a collapse. He was resuscitated back by the son and then 100 metres to the casualty of the Nairobi Hospital he collapsed again and was rushed to casualty. There was resuscitation which took a bit of time but there were not able to revive him,” Prof Mwanda narrated.
However, Prof Mwanda said Magoha knew his time had come.
“He had a premonition and told his wife and he was happy everything had been done. He then asked his wife to call the son and so the daughter-in-law. And also at that time, he said he wanted to see me and the wife did the same.
Prof Mwanda also described the Magoha he knew.
“In all aspects, he was second to none, in whatever duty and responsibility he undertook. He did his work diligently. He gave himself to whatever responsibility he was given. In private, we were the same in many ways and many decisions.”
