RUTO’S CLOSEST ALLY DUMPS HIM
Special Secretary for Infrastructure, Energy and ICT at the Office of the Deputy President William Ruto, Maurice Kakai Bisau has ditched the UDA party for the Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K).
Defense Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa announced the move on Wednesday as the party officials led by the party leader Wafula Wamunyinyi received Bisau at the Chui House in Nairobi.
Bisau had prior declared his interest in the Trans Nzoia County Governor’s seat in a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party ticket.
CS Wamalwa also stated that Bisau who was set to face off with former Rift Valley Regional Commissioner George Natembeya for the county’s top seat has vowed to back Natembeya’s gubernatorial bid.
“He was DP Ruto’s Special Secretary for infrastructure and will be supporting George Natembeya candidature unconditionally,” Wamalwa said.
The newly formed DAP-K has seen a lot of defections since UDA made a pact with Musalia Mudavadi’s ANC and Moses Wetangula-led Ford Kenya party in January this year.
Last week, Butere MP Tindi Mwale defected from ANC to DAP-K. Ford Kenya party leader Andrew Kutitila and former speaker of the National Assembly Kenneth Marende also joined the party late in January.
As the battle for Western Kenya continues to heat up barely 6 months to the General Elections, Kenya Kwanza allies have continued to tear down the DAP-K party saying it is just a ‘sidekick’ for the Azimio la Umoja Movement led by Raila Odinga.
“Ni chama ya ukora hiyo ni ODM wakuje Na ODM we face with them mundu khu mundu. Eugene na Eseli wanaweza kutegeneza chama kweli?” DP Ruto said while in a tour of Bungoma county.
