Raila Retires From Politics
The former prime minister Raila Odinga has been in politics since early 90s When he contested for a parliamentary seat in Langata on Ford Kenya ticket.
The party was then being led by his father Jaramogi Oginga Odinga who tried to be president without success.
Following the death of his father in 1994, the Azimio la umoja one Kenya alliance party leader ditched Ford Kenya and formed NDP which he used to contest for presidency in 1997 but lost.
He later on joined the then rulling party KANU under the late president Daniel Arap Moi after having dissolved his party.
However, the marriage with KANU didn’t last as in the run up to the 2022 general election, together with other top party officials he pulled out of KANU when Moi anointed uhuru Kenyatta as his heir apparent.
The group now under LDP threw their weight behind Mwai Kibaki who emerged Winner Against uhuru.
Ever since, Raila has vied for presidency four times in vain with the latest being in 2022 when he lost narrowly to William Samoei Ruto.
On Wednesday, Raila hinted at retiring from politics saying kibra is the place to be After hanging his Boots.
He was speaking this during a visit to the area where he met with religious leaders From the area.
His sentiments have elicited reactions with some Netizens opining that for the 20 years he has been an MP in the place , the lives of the people haven’t improved.
