Politician Dies While Addressing Members of Assembly
A nominated Member of the County Assembly (MCA) of Taita Taveta has died in hospital. Constance Shunghula died while speaking to her colleague members who had visited her at the hospital yesterday late in the evening.
According to the Speaker of Taita Taveta County Assembly, who was among those who visited her in Mombasa Hospital, Constance had a short illness that cost her life suddenly. The speaker claimed that the four colleagues who visited her at the hospital were able to have some talkative moments before she passed on.
“We are filled with emotions as MCAs for the loss of our colleague, Hon. Constance Shunghuli. Our dearest was a dedicated member who served in the assembly of Taita Taveta, holding a crucial position as a vocal legislator who was always proactive in fighting for the rights of the people of Taita Taveta, especially girls and women,” the speaker said in an official notice to the Assembly today in the afternoon.
“Hon. Constance spoke to us briefly, whereby she told us to continue praying for her minutes before she was pronounced dead. We sincerely send our condolences to the family and friends,” the Speaker added, as quoted by NTV Kenya.
