Namibia President is Dead

Namibia’s President, Hage Geingob, passed away at the age of 82 in Lady Pohamba Hospital, Windhoek, on Sunday.

The presidency confirmed the news via a post on the social media platform X. Geingob’s death comes only weeks after he was diagnosed with cancer, prompting his planned travel to the United States for treatment, as announced by the presidency last month. The cause of death was not disclosed in the social media post.

President Geingob had been under the care of his medical team at Lady Pohamba Hospital. His health decline followed a regular medical check-up that revealed a cancer diagnosis, leading to the decision to seek treatment abroad.
