Chaotic Scenes in Kisumu As Demos Turns Ugly
On Wednesday, protesters in Kisumu came to the streets as early as 7am to start bonfires. Prior to the anti-government rallies, Lakeside City’s majority of streets were deserted.
In response to Azimio leader Raila Odinga’s call for demonstrations, the protesters blocked roadways.
Businesses remained shuttered, and little activity was seen. As people avoided the city, transport, on the other hand, was paralysed, with no vehicles visible going around.
The Azimio Leaders are applying pressure to president Ruto’s Government to heed on the their pleas and to reduce the cost of living. The cost of living has been a thorn in the flesh to most of the Kenyans.
Before the protests started, there weren’t many tuk tuks from Nyalenda visible on the road. At the Kisumu bus terminal, a new fire was started around the streets with some citizens waiting nearby.
