BREAKING! UHURU SACKS TOP MILLIONAIRE CS
Uhuru Advised to Sack Top Millionaire CS For Disregarding His Orders
The Central Organization of Trade Union (COTU) Secretary General Francis Atwoli now wants Labour Cabinet Secretary Simon Chelugui relieved of his duties over alleged blatant disregard of a Presidential directive.
Atwoli is up in arms over what he termed as a decision by Chelugui to openly disobey an order from the head of state during Labour Day celebrations directing him to gazette the appointment of Rose Omamo to the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) Board by close of business Wednesday this week.
The COTU boss accused Chelugui alongside the Labour Principal Secretary of defiance and contempt to the office of the President by failing to act as directed by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“That the President ordered his Cabinet Secretary to gazette COTU’s nominee to the Board only for the CS to pass this responsibility to the Head of Public Service warrants further action from the President if his power and authority is anything to go by,”
“In no other democracy in the world do presidential appointees who work at the mercies of the President behave in the manner these two conducted themselves,” Atwoli charged in a statement Thursday
Atwoli further faults the Ministry of Labour for shifting its stance on the reason behind its earlier decision not to confirm Omamo for the position. While the Ministry initially indicated that Omamo’s name was not approved due to regional balance, Atwoli claims that the Ministry has since embarked on a misinformation campaign to the effect that Omamo was not suitable and lacked the capacity to sit on the Board.
He terms the claims maliciously and baseless even as he maintained that Omamo has all academic qualifications and the capacity to lead by virtue of the fact that she runs one of the giant unions in Kenya.
“Sis Omamo is one of the well-versed Kenyans in industrial relations practice, more than anyone within the Ministry of Labour, ad she is the workers’ choice,” Atwoli reiterated
And for failing to abide by the Presidential directive on the appointment of Omamo to the NSSF Board, Atwoli says the move “warrants for dismissal of the involved officials,”
