A STRANGE INCIDENT HAS HAPPENED IN KITUI
A class eight student at Kasole Primary School in Mwingi Central Kitui County went blind days to her Kenya Certificate Primary Education (KCPE) after being diagnosed with a brain tumor.
The pupil,15, went blind after arriving at Mwingi level IV hospital 8 days ago to have her throbbing headache checked, according to reports..
Her mother stated that her daughter suffered from headaches on a regular bbasis, but that she did not believe it was harmful.
“I used to buy herpainkillerss, but when the pain persisted, I brought her to the hospital,” she said.
Dr. Evans Mumo, the hospital’s administrator, stated that the pupil’s condition was critical and referred them to Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) for specialized care.
Our tests show a brain tumor, and that is what haspossiblye led to her loss of sight,” said Dr. Mumo while speaking to The Standard on Tuesday.
Because they lack the ability to extract the tumor, the hospital is only able to keep the condition under control with painkillers.
The mother is now pleading for help in assisting her daughter’s treatment so that she can regain her sight. Meanwhile her daughter is still hopeful that she will receive assistance and take the exams, even if it is later this year.
“I was ready, and I’m willing to do the exams, if only I can regain my sight,” she said.
The KCPE exams began on Monday, March 7, and will conclude on March 9, 2022.
