Ruto Fires Otieno Kajwang’s Brother
In a shocking turn of events, President William Ruto has made a bold move and revoked the appointment of Joseph Okoto Ajwang as a member of the Board of Directors of the Lake Victoria South Water Works Development Agency. This decision came in a Gazette notice that was released on Friday.
The appointment of Ajwang, who is the late Senator Otieno Kajwang’s brother, was revoked alongside Jeridah Bosibori Mbaka’s appointment, who held the same position.
However, to replace these members, the President has appointed Millicent Oduor Olando and Mwita Maisoro. Their tenure has officially started on September 1.
In the notice, the President stated, “I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, appoint Millicent Oduor Olando and Mwita Maisoro to be members of the Board of Directors of the Lake Victoria South Water Works Development Agency, established vide Legal Notice No. 28 of 2019, with effect from September 1, 2023 up to the 4th July, 2025.”
The announcement further stated that the appointments of Mbaka and Ajwang are revoked.
It is important to note that Ajwang’s appointment had only been made in July 2022 by former Cabinet Secretary James Macharia.
He was named to the board alongside Bosibori and was expected to serve for three years.
However, President Ruto has taken decisive action and replaced the board members.
The Board of Directors of the Lake Victoria South Water Works Development Agency plays a crucial role in overseeing water resource management and development in the region.
It is hoped that the new appointments will bring fresh energy and ideas to this important board.
Only time will tell if this decision will prove to be beneficial for the development of the region’s waterworks
