WILL DP WILLIAM RUTO MAKE IT?

The 2022 succession politics has intensified with COTU secretary general Francis Atwoli urging Kenyans to support President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga’s bid to unite Kenyans.

The COTU boss, has, however, warned Kenyans against voting for the Deputy President William Ruto adding the odds are against him.

“I beseech Kenyans to stop gambling at political odds. Ruto won’t make it…I am not seeing how “he said.

He spoke during the burial of the late Tabitha Okwaro, the wife to Benson Okwaro a trade Unionist at Gem Anyiko in Siaya County.

Atwoli used the opportunity to question DP Ruto’s trip to Uganda saying the second in command wants to create a resistance movement.

“This foreign trips to Uganda camouflaged in business deals could be Secret political machinations aimed at creating a resistant movement,” he claimed.

His comments come a day after he claimed that Ruto allies could be  ‘smuggling illegal arms” into the country through the porous borders and that their movements must be checked thoroughly.

“I am ready to record a statement because some of these containers they return with carries…what?” He questioned.

In 2022 polls, Atwoli said there are ready as a Handshake team for campaigns since they have the required resources.

“We are ready for 2022 with lots of money and all other resources that is required in a transitional election and let nobody run around thinking that they are the billionaires. Watch this step and you will see the money we will release in the political economy beginning next year,” he said.

Speaking at the same funeral, Senate minority leader James Orengo warned that the country risks plunging into a ditch if the national leadership is not careful.

“If we don’t get proper political directions, we risk sliding into a ditch or anarchy. There is what we call collective responsibility. All CSs and top government functionaries must uphold when engaging in shuttle diplomacy,” he said.

Orengo also wondered why Ruto was reluctant to quit or resign as the DP following his ceaseless attacks against the very government he was serving as the 2nd in command.

“It’s needless to continue occupying a high-profile political office and use it as bait to attack your own government. Ruto should re-think his stand,” Orengo said.

The Siaya senator revisited the Jubilee administration pre-election promises saying that Kenyans must ask what became of the promise to issue laptops to every child, build a modern stadium in every county and tarmac roads at least in every constituency.

The leaders rooted for a united Kenya and asked Kenyans to register in mass for the 2022 ballot contest.

Atwoli, Orengo, Gem MP Elisha Odhiambo and Kakamega Deputy Governor Prof. Philip Kutuma asked Kenyans to support ODM chief Raila Odinga.

Atwoli extended an olive branch to the former NASA brigades Kalonzo Musyoka, Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula who have since ditched the outfit for one Kenya alliance to work with Raila in a bid to form a new government.
